Waldvogel Times

Welcome to my idea of a simple way to stay in touch with more people. I was inspired by an old friend who has done a great job keeping friends and family posted on her everyday life. As our schedules get busier and our family gets bigger, I want to make sure that friends and family are informed!

Laugh of the day

OK, highly unusual that I post twice in one day. However, a picture is worth 1,000 words. I took this photo today with our zoom lens, I'm in the house and that is Mark in his Mini Cooper at the end of our driveway. On his way out the door in his socks, and no jacket he said to me, "I'm going to see if the mini will make it out of the driveway." Well I guess not. What you can't see is the front tire spinning, first forward, then in reverse and the car going no where. And of course Mark is out there with no jacket and no shoes to come back in. I'm sure he can't leave the car sitting there anyway, the plow would go right over it. I was lauging so hard, I'm suprised I got the picture. Anyway in the end, thanks to our neighbor Frank for coming over with his enormous snow blower on his John Deere tractor and getting Mark out. I was coming with his boots and jacket and a shovel....all for Mark to use. Mark came in and said, well "I guess I got my answer. I should have got a faster running start." Oh boy. And there you have it, my laugh of the day.

Such Cute Boys

Well, our nights are going much better. Now we are a little fussy with our days, but all babies cry a litlle I'm told. Here in Hubertus we got 9 inches Saturday, and another 12 inches overnight. We'll see what else piles on today. Glad I stocked up on groceries Friday night, I don't feel like packing the kids in the car and leaving today. I'd like to get some snow pictures with Brett later, look for them......

Sleep.....

Well, we are getting there. With a little encouragement Barrett is not sleeping all day anymore, he is catching more zzzzz's at night. Yeah for mom! He eats around 8 or 9 and goes to bed, eats around 1 or 2 and again at 5 or 6 and we get up at 7:30 every day like clock work. Works for me so far. However I'm finding the time to do this post because he is napping early today. For some reason he got up a little early. Oh well, like my MD said, it won't be long and all this will be a blur. The babies change every day and so fast. We plan to get grocery shopping some time today and gear up for the big storm this weekend, I knew I should of washed my car while it was warm. Theater progress has slowed. All Mark has left to do is build these frames for the wall and cover them with fabric. I think he is bored with it, and we are able to watch movies now, so it is hard to finish that last pain in the @#$ stuff. But I have no doubt he will be done soon.

Holy cow, over 9 pounds!

Wow, we, Brett and I, took Barrett in for his 2 week check up today. He is 2 weeks and 5 days, we went a little closer to 3 weeks because of our recent visit with his jaundice check up. Well the big news is his big weight gain. He gained 1 pound and 10 ounces in 2 weeks. Not an off the chart growth rate, but it was pretty impressive. It definately put to rest my concern of whether or not he is eating enough! And he has grown an inch. So he is in the 67% for weight and 85% for height. Everything looks good with him. However he has his days and nights confused. He sleeps in excess during the day and is very awake from 11 pm until 2 am or so. He is not to fussy, until you put him in his crib and leave. So I was given advise from the Dr. to be aggresive and keep him awake more during the day. Make sure he is nice and tired by night fall. I'm giving it a go. Any advice from experienced moms is appreciated. Brett just loves giving kisses to Barrett. He really likes it when he gives a kiss and Barrett stops crying. Brett has been very helpful, as has Mark. It is very hard to entertain an infant in the middle of the night alone. Mark is great at getting Brett to bed now and dressed in the morning.

2 Weeks Old

Barrett is two weeks old today. I love how fuzzy his hair is after a washing. We are adjusting to a fairly consistent schedule pretty well. He is a very sleepy baby, but so was Brett and Dr Smith told me that was a mother's dream. So perhaps I'll be lucky twice. He is definately feeling much better since we stopped the bili blanket on Friday. Things seemed to normalize for him. Brett still can't give him enough kisses. It is very cute, and a little frustrating, I'm constantly having to remind Brett to wash his hands and face because of his cold, and of course Brett doesn't wash as good as I would, but his intentions are so heart warming. He also brings toys for Barrett to play with. It was Valentine's Day yesterday, typically just another day here. Well Mark was very sweet and decided to give me a gift. I however had stumbled upon it unwrapped and opened the box on Sunday and he did not know. So I kept quiet and let him hide it from me a pretended not to know. I knew I would like the gift, it was a pair of pants from the Gap that I had cut out of a magazine and asked his mother to pick up for me when she was at Mayfair next and I would pay her for them. Well somehow they became my gift from Mark. So unknown to him I took the pants out of the box and replaced them with a pair of new maternity pants that I never wore. As I opened the gift he was so proud, (he had no idea these weren't the Gap pants) he even said how he thought I would like these pants so much. I then asked him why when I already had Barrett he would buy me maternity pants. The look on his face was priceless. Confusion, surprise, and a little embarrassment, all rolled into one. Then he ran for the phone to call his mom. I could not hold back any longer and laughed outloud. I then let him on my prank. Mark did not think the whole ordeal was very funny, but of course I did and I hope you chuckle too.

Finally, pictures

Finally I got some pictures posted. One of my little jaundice baby and some after. He is doing great. Feeding every 3 hours or so, usually up @ 2 am, and 5 or 6 am. Mark is back to work, but I'm doing OK, Brett went to Grandma Waldvogel's today as usual, so that helps.

Family portrait

OK, so I cheated a little. These are hospital picutres still. But the best family portrait of the 4 of us to date. I will be on the job tomorow and post a few more recent ones. And of course I'm not taking as many pictures of Barrett as I did Brett. What can I say the down fall of being #2 I guess. So far I am still in shock at how big Brett appears now, and a little surprised, if it weren't for the 3 years difference I think they boys could be twins so far. We are done with the Bili blanket, all Barrett's labs are normal and he is settling into a nice routine and schedule and has not been fussy at all. He is very content, just like Brett was after he got a schedule down too. More pictures to come soon.

Welcome Barrett Scott

After much discussion, I decided to name our new little one Barrett Scott. I wanted something a little different but not to weird, and easy to pronounce and spell. And why I really went with Barrett instead of Preston or Bennett is because Brett has been so insistent on naming his new brother Brett. Well with just a tweak of a few letters, Brett is in Barrett. I thought that was nice for two brothers. We are slowly adjusting. Mark is taking 2 weeks paternity leave now, thank goodness. He is helping with Brett and errands, and of course has a little time to finish up that theater room. We had a very tired little baby for the first two days and he didn't do a lot of eating or awake time and is now making up for both. He is on a bili blanket to help with his jaundice and I'm not expecting that to last more than a few days. After I get a little rest I'll post some pictures. I'll definately have to take one at night of my little glow worm baby with his light. And I've realized my comment section was turned off, I will turn it back on for those of you who have requested it.
