Gourd Birhouses

Thanks to my grandma in Green Bay for giving us these gourds. She had already dried them, I drilled some holes and the boys painted them. Also our friend Alyssa and my cousin Aleena got in on the art work too.

How big are you?

Just for comparison. The picture with the t-shirt is from September, the first day of school and the picture with the red jacket is the last day of school. Interesting to see how much he grew in comparison to the bus seat next to him.

Brett's a graduate of 4K!

Brett did it! He finished his first year of school and passed with flying colors. They had a little presentation of songs and then off to his room for some cake. So far he is really enjoying summer vacation. I let him stay up as late as he wanted last night and he lasted until 10:20. I was surprised. And today he lasted until 4 pm before taking a nap. He then told me he likes his bedtime.

Sleepy Head

This is the same as an earlier post. The two year old who refuses to nap. And there he is all slumped over on the couch.

My Little Doctors

Since Scooby has been home she is doing great. And even though I'm not a practicing nurse, I just can't help but pretend to be one at home. So I've pulled out my stethoscope and I have been listening to Scooby's lungs to make sure they are clear. Her biggest danger now is pnemonia. And well Brett and Barrett are in on it too. So cute how Barrett so nicely lifts his shirt for Brett to listen.

Max's moment of glory

You all remember Max right? Well long story short, Max is my old percheron in the picture above. I decided to sell him and purchased Grande. When I sold him, I actually exchanged him for Grande with Jake and family (my trainer/farrier/friend). Well since Max has been at their farm they have been using him daily as a hitch horse for breaking other horses (teaching them how to hitch and pull). He loves his job. And now, drum roll please.... Max will be a wheel horse for Jake's family farm in the Great Circus Parade! I have no idea what wagon they will be pulling, but if you are there and see him, give a shout out for him! And by the way, Scooby is doing fabulous!

Scooby at Home

Scooby is sooo happy to be home. Although I think when she woke up this morning some of the 'happy juice' had worn off from yesterday. She is on a diet of ground canned food only for at least two weeks. Then we progress to chunky canned and softened dry, and if we can back to dry food. Brett has been very helpful in telling me when there is food on the floor that she can't have; finally his police officer trait coming in handy. We are all looking forward to the end of the school year now, just the same as I will be looking forward to the beginning next year. I really do try to live in the moment, but sometimes they are overwhelming.

The Gator

The boys love the gator they got for Christmas. Hours a day! Funny how Barrett doesn't like to have his picture taken, that stinker.

Scooby is coming home now! I'm off to get her.

Scooby update

Scooby had a great night. She is up walking around, she ate her food with interest, and is breathing great. She is set to come home today!

Scooby

Scooby had surgery today. Everything kept getting pushed a little later. I went to visit with her at 1 o'clock this afternoon. She was so anxious, she wanted to get up and leave. They actaully sedated her because she was exerting herself too much. Her surgeon talked to Mark and I around 2:30. Only a handful of surgeons do this in the Milwaukee area, Mark looked into a better deal! Any way she went for surgery around 5 and was done around 6:30. The surgery took a little longer than normal, she has a lot of fat around her neck - must be part chicken or turkey. Don sat in the waiting room with me while I waited for her to be done and kept me company, what a guy! Mark came back after work, we saw her moments after she was extubated. I actually didn't want to see her once she was too awake. She needs to be calm and relax. She will continue to wake up and somtime through the night or early morning they will try to feed her. My fingers are crossed that I will bring her home Tuesday afternoon. She is a trooper and has pulled through great so far.
