Waldvogel Times

Welcome to my idea of a simple way to stay in touch with more people. I was inspired by an old friend who has done a great job keeping friends and family posted on her everyday life. As our schedules get busier and our family gets bigger, I want to make sure that friends and family are informed!

Scenic Run and Walk

Saturday morning the 24th, Mark and I went with my neighbor Eli to run a 5K. We had to do it. The race started a mile from our house and went through our subdivision. It was small and competetive. I've never run that fast, finished in 28 or 29. And it started raining at mile 2. But it was still a good time had by all. I found it interesting that not one person had told me about the mascara running down the side of my face....

Grande's New Harness

Grande got a new harness. All patent leather, leather, and stainless steel. Beautiful. It was handmade in Watertown, WI by Mr. Savatski, local harness maker. I was even lucky enough to have him come out to the barn and fit it on Grande and drive my horse! This was a very exciting day.

Microwave Popcorn Made Healthy

I really have been trying to eat healthier, more local, just make better conscious decisions about my food. I've even resorted to lifting weights at the YMCA 3 days a week, getting in the pool with the kids, and running again. I am on day 6 of getting up at 6 am before the rest of the house to get in a run. My biggest challenge has been late night snacking. I know you are supposed to stop eating at 7 pm or a few hours before bed, well I can't. So when I found out you can make popcorn in the microwave that is still good for you I was thrilled. I wouldn't have to plug in my loud air popper. The recipe is simple. Take a brown paper luch bag, put in popcorn seeds, drizzle with olive oil and in the microwave for a few minutes. Not neccessarily as good as the other stuff, or as good as the stuff I coat with butter, but.... My only advise, 1 cup of popcorn is too much, and please make sure your bag is big enough! On another note, I took the kids bowling one of the cold days of spring break. The day Brett lost his tooth actually. Well Brett scored what I think is a personal best of 76 and 69. He was very upset to not have any spares or strikes. Especially considering Barrett scored a personal best of,........ 123 and 88. With that slide he managed to get 5 spares and one strike. The 88 would have been higher but somehow he crossed the foul line twice. Anyway, we had a good time.

EXTRA! EXTRA! BRETT LOSES HIS FIRST TOOTH!

What an exciting day today. We awoke on the 7th day of Spring Break to snow. Barrett told me it was now winter again. Our neighbor came over to visist so this afternoon I took the kids to the local Bowling Alley for some fun. Again Barrett used the 'ball slide' and had a group high score of 123. And my boys being boys were wrestling a little on the way out. Brett bumped his mouth on Barrett's head, and minutes later out came the tooth that has been loose since Thanksgiving. He is most excited that they will sing a song for him at school. He doesn't want to leave it for the tooth fairy, he wants to show the kids at school.... I'm not sure that will happen. Incae you are wondering the tooth he lost is on the top front. It may appear that he is missing a lower tooth too, but that tooth never came in. Just like me.

Jail Time

My kids had fun playing in Wilbur's extra cage. We called it jail for obvious reasons, and yes they can let themselves out.

Outside Gator Driving

Exercise

No worries here about my kids not getting enough exercise. They say the kids model their parents behavior, perhaps we spend too much time on the treadmill? We even save electricity here, both workout at once.

Easter Twenty-10

Once again Grandma and Papa Waldvogel out did themselves. The 5 grandkids all had color cordinated Easter Eggs hidden in the yard to find. It was very, very windy. Later at home Barrett used some easter baskets as slippers, way to re-use...

Birthday Party again for Brett

Brett had yet another birthday party on Saturday the 3rd. Something is wrong when he has more invitations to parties than I do. This one was at Family Fun Land in Germantown (think Chuck E Cheese, minus the franchise feel, and add a bouncy house and indoor playground) Again I choose to stay with Barrett and play. Both had lots of fun on the slide, although I couldn't get a clear picture of Brett.

Birthday Bowling Party

Brett was invited to a birthday party at Pioneer Bowl. It was a drop off party but at Barrett's age it is nice to get out of the house and be able to do something with just him too. So while Brett bowled with his friends and had a great time, Barrett bowled too. I had never seen such a thing as this bowling ball 'slide' but that is jsut what it was. I lined it up and Barrett pushed the ball. The afternoon was great fun. Brett got two spares! Tonight as I was 'racing' Barrett up the stairs to put him to bed, well he is so fast he beat me. Brett then came up behind us and told me that even though Barrett was faster than me and up the stiars first, "Mom, you're the real winner." Let me tell you these long rainy spring break days, that really helps. I'm purging through a lot of baby toys, books, pre-school puzzles etc. Anyone know of a person or cause in need?
