Richfield Fireman's Park

We took the kids to the park to play. We did not go the day of the parade because of the crowd so we went this week and had the park to ourselves. The giant slide was still a big hit. Mark gets a little nervous when they climb to the top. And now they can teeter totter each other because Barrett weighs nearly the same as Brett.

Boating and Tubing

We have been trying to go boating with our neighbors all summer. Our schedules and mostly the weather just haven't matched up. With school starting next week we decided to go out on Tuesday night. -Umm I know, chance of storms.....

Actually the rain wasn't so bad. The lightning was our cue to get off the lake though. We'll hope for better weather next time!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

No summer would be complete to me without at least one trip to Slinger Speedway. Brett and Barrett were both very excited to go and see the race cars. Barrett luckily fell asleep on Mark's lap and we stayed peacefully until the end. The figure 8's are my favorite. And I couldn't believe the names I still recognized from when I went in the 90's. Some of these drivers are older than me. Of course not the one who gave Brett and Barrett an autograph, he is only 19.

Richfield Days Parade

We attended the Richfield Days Parade at noon on Sunday in downtown Richfield. We saw the parade and left, the playground looked too crowded. And we sat in a very busy spot. We ended up with more candy than we needed. It was the first parade Barrett caught on to the idea of free candy. He can be seen here collecting his loot.

2009 Wisconsin State Fair Cont.

We went back to the fair Sunday night to see the heavyweight horse pull competition. Bob Johnson brought 4 horses and was very happy with their performances. We had a great time.

This is a funny story, especially if you know the participants! Lorelei was wearing a patriotic sweater with stripes and stars. She asked me what I thought of it, well I was honest and told her that 1982 had called and wanted it's sweater back. So with $40 dollars given to me, she sent me to buy her a fair t-shirt. What? She isn't wearing a fair t-shirt you say??? Well, for only $5 I brought back a ladies white shirt, there was not a lot left to choose from. Well the white shirt did not go well with a dark grey bra underneath it. So Lorelei looked around, Aleena was also in a white shirt, but Lucas was in a black shirt. So she made Lucas give it up. Lucas donned the new purchase and realized the colors were very feminine. So, you guessed it, he made Aleena take off her shirt and switch with him. And that is the story of the shirts!

2009 Wisconsin State Fair

I did take Grande to the state fair. I did not show him in cart class, he is still too young, but I went to show him in halter and my cousin Aleena used him in a youth decorating class and a youth showmanship class. We all had a great time, but for me this year, it was exhausting. Thank goodness I had help keeping my aisle swept! Brett and Barrett really enjoyed being at the fair this year, and I think they will enjoy it more each year. Brett even asked if he could show Grande next year, and yes they do have a tiny tots class! We took a little break and rode the camel. That is a classic fair event to me. We had fun!

Cookout

A few weeks back my uncle Robert and his 3 children were in Wisconsin visiting from Alabama. Aunt Lynnette has 2 exchange students, one boy from France and one boy from Spain. In addition, Lynnette has her daughter and a friend. And my aunt from Madison had her children at Grandpa's too. I took my neighbor's son and my two boys, and we had a cookout at my grandpa's house. This was the 'kids table'.

Sunday August 2nd

Grace Lutheran Church had service outside and followed that with games and such for the kids.

Brett and his cousin Ellie loved the bouncy house. Barrett, not so much. It was very odd, he cried the minute he got in it.

The obstacle course was everyone's favorite.

and finally over and down the huge slide. Brett raced with his dad. And I probably don't need to mention that Mark and I raced each other, oh who won you ask, I smoked him....twice!

Microderm Abrasion

Playing With the Boys

As I mentioned Barrett and Brett have new friends. While Brett went to the EAA with his dad and Papa, Barrett came with me and Gonzalo and Jullian to the Ozaukee County Fair. While I watched the horse pulls, the boys played in the dirt and checked out the skid steer. I went in support of Bob Johnson. It was a very sad day, this past week his #1 and #2 horses, Andy and Kenny passed away suddenly from and unknow virus. It is a huge loss. He will keep going though, and his team Max and Sonny came in 4th.

The girls, Laura and Laure went home. And now visiting here is Gonzalo from Spain and Jullian from France. My two boys just love playing with them. And we spotted this car parked in Mequon and thought, hey nice photo op.
